A TOUCH OF DANGER
by Francis Durbridge

Produced by Mary Frost

THE PLAY

Modern- day thriller, set in London. Author Max Telligan, it is announced, has been killed abroad - shocking all those who know him. Except that his wife's grieving is interrupted by Max's arrival... It could be a coincidental case of mistaken identity, except that someone is trying to kill Max and a number of mysterious strangers are watching him. After Max is forced to kill the assassin Crane in self-defence, he is contacted by both MI5 and the CIA, who are among the shadowy organisations following him. Max's cooperation is required to set a trap for his secretary Liz and friend Jeff, important members of a deadly terrorist organisation - at the conclusion of which, he is told by MI5 that none of this ever happened...

FROM THE GROUP

This Francis Durbridge thriller ''A Touch of Danger'' was quite straightforward. A business man returning from abroad becomes mixed up in a web of foreign espionage. The audience is left guessing as to the identity of the true villain until the final curtain. Bob Wakelin making a return to the group after a long break, gave a solid performance in the lead role which was pivotal in holding the whole piece together. Mike Liassides taking the role of the investigating officer who finally put all the pieces together to solve the crime gave a performance with just the right amount of authority. This play also saw the debut performances of two new members to the group in minor roles both of which acquitted themselves very well. A run of the mill play but well acted and supported.
