THE PLAY
Modern-day comedy, set in the Home Counties. Geraldine and Reg used to be hippies but are now living in middle-class suburbia under the eagle eye of Geraldine's domineering mother. Their daughter Billie is soon to marry Reg's ultra-right wing boss's son Bunny and a dinner party is arranged to celebrate. On the night, though, Geraldine loses patience with her mother and Reg and decides to impersonate Reg's caddish brother Rollo. After a frantic period of trying to account for Rollo's presence and Geraldine's absence, Reg retaliates by pretending to be Rollo's lunatic wife Lillian. Somehow, the evening doesn't quite end in disaster, as Reg's boss never realising what has happened. When Lillian and Rollo leave, it is with both Billie and Bunny and Reg and Geraldine closer than ever before and Geraldine's mother put firmly in her place.
