Sadly, for those who approve of sharing and heritage, the gardens at Leonardslee in Sussex have passed into private ownership and will no longer be open to the general public. Just before they closed, though, Clare-L organised a group trip and picnic.
Day Trip to Leonardslee, 30th
May 2010
Not much to report verbally, as nobody reported back in writing. However, Nick
took a selection of delightful photos, reproduced below, to capture what (I'm
reliably informed) is actually a very beautiful set of gardens partially filled
with Cissbury Players and assorted relatives. We'll have to go with uncaptioned,
other than to point out that they feature Clare-L, Sam and family and Nick, as
to do anything else would reveal a grave lack of knowledge about exactly what
plants are involved. That is, of course, entirely reasonable on an amateur
dramatics website - there are plenty of other places on the Internet where
gardeners and botanists can hang out.
Anyway, the point, largely, was that a lovely day out was had by all who
attended, the weather was kind and the place was in full bloom.
