18: 2007 - Out Of Focus

Set in a modern-day church hall, this is a utilitarian box set with very few frills. The kitchen cupboards are real - or at least, very nearly, being genuine doors and fittings on jerry-built carcasses. The tea urn worked, as did the tap (with a several gallon water supply hidden in the sink unit) and there was power to the sockets in the kitchen area.

The play itself was about a group of people staging an amateur panto, so there were a number of props and costumes involved. Some of them, particularly the full-size Cinderella's coach cut-out, were big enough to qualify as furnishings in their own right and they had to be constructed and painted at the same time as the set was being built.

Having done the play before and given the straightforwardness of the set, this one was easy...
